A draft law is currently prepared to control the religious fatwa during the coming period and to contain the current state of chaos resulted from the increasing irresponsible fatwas issued by non-professionals, said MP Amr Hamroush.

The Egyptian parliamentarian, who serves as secretary of the parliament’s religious committee, added that the proposal aims to contain fatwas that perform a major role to fuel the sectarian tensions, saying that it includes deterrent punishments against the violators.
Hamroush said that the parliament is scheduled to discuss the draft law within the coming days, stressing the need for such a law to confront the extremist ideas promoted by a number of preachers.
