The National Council for Women announced it will legally sue the Badeel news website over “insulting women” after using an improper picture of a woman dancing on a news story.
The council condemned the “shameful approach” taken by the website in covering President Sisi’s call for women to rationalize consumption of water and power.
The website put a headline saying: “Sisi to women: please stand by Egypt, and it will be as big as the world,” and placed an archived picture of a young woman dancing in a gathering, likely to be a pro-government demonstration. The picture is no longer on the website.
The picture triggered anger comments on social media; Lawyer Samir Sabry also announced he will sue the website accusing it of insulting Egyptian women.
