CAIRO - Ismail Serageldin, the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Saturday receives the Millennium Excellence Award for Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize 2010, under the theme “Reshaping Africa: New Values, New Strategies” for scientific research in Africa.
The award-giving ceremony will be held in the State House, Accra, Ghana.
The prize is awarded by Ghana’s Excellence Awards Foundation, a private institution established in 1999, which presents the Millennium
Excellence Award every five years, to honour outstanding achievements by individuals who have selflessly served the continent of Africa and contributed to its socioeconomic development.
Previous recipients of the award are Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary- General (2005); and Jerry Jon Rawlings, the former president of Ghana (2000).
