32nd Alexandria Film Festival to honour Arab and Egyptian filmmakers

 The 32nd edition of the Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival will honour Egyptian and Arab filmmakers, while hosting a number of international films between 21 and 27 September.

The festival involves 29 Arab and Mediterranean countries.
 
Egyptians to be honoured are actor Youssef Shaaban, director Mohamed Rady, director of photography Samir Farag and producer Mohsen Alam El-Din.
 
Five filmmakers from the Arab world who will honoured are Syrian director Abdellatif Abdelhamid, Tunisian director Rachid Ferchiou, Moroccan director Hakim Belabbes, Algerian director Merzak Allouache, and Syrian actor Ghassan Massoud.
 
The festival will also honour Bibliotheca Alexandrina, celebrating 120 years since its first film screening.
 
This year Palestine, Syria and Algeria are the festival’s ‘Resistance and Cinema guests of honour’ from the Arab world, with Greece chosen similarly from the Mediterranean region.
 
Other participating Arab countries at the festival include Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Yemen, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sudan, Oman, Libya and Mauritania.
 
The festival will also host films from Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Albania, Bosnia, the USA and Russia.
 
The annual festival is organised by the Egyptian Association for Film Writers and Critics, under the auspices of the ministries of culture, information and tourism.
