A Cairo criminal court sentenced in absentia three defendants to 10 years in prison after they were convicted of disrupting one of Cairo's metro lines.
Earlier this year, the three defendants tried to forcefully open the door of a train carriage which led to a power cut in El-Marg station, temporarily stopping movement on the metro line.
An estimated 3.5 million Egyptians use the metro daily as a fast and inexpensive means of transportation throughout Greater Cairo.
