Russia has agreed to lift a temporary ban on imports of Egyptian crops after Cairo committed to take all necessary measures to guarantee the safety of the products exported to Moscow, Sergei Dankvert, Head of Russian food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor was quoted by Sputnik on Monday.
“The sides agreed to resume the deliveries of agricultural produce from Egypt to Russia, except potatoes, on condition that the Egyptian side will meet all Russian demands on sanitary safety of supplied produce,” said Rosselkhoznadzor spokeswoman Yulia Melano.
Russia temporarily suspended fruit and vegetable imports from Egypt from Sept. 22 after Cairo rejected a Russian wheat shipment.
