President Abdel Fatah al Sisi will pay an official visit to Portugal soon, state news agency MENA reported, citing remarks from Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday.
The remarks come during a press conference held following Shoukry’s talks with Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, who visited Cairo on Wednesday.
The move comes as part of Egypt’s policy to contact all partners to solve regional crises, he added.
In June, Portuguese foreign minister Augusto Santos Silva met with Shoukry in Cairo and delivered a message from Portuguese president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa inviting Sisi to visit Portugal.
In statements to MENA, Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva said Sisi’s visit to Portugal will be a turning point in the Egyptian-Portuguese relations and will open the way to foster cooperation.
