Egypt's Court of Cassation on Tuesday overturned a June 2015 life sentence against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in the case of espionage with the Palestinian group Hamas and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, ordering a retrial.

The courts ruling today covered a total of 21 defendants who had received varying sentences in the case in a lower court.
Sixteen defendants who had received life sentences alongside Morsi include Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Mohamed Badei.
The court also overturned death sentences against three Brotherhood leaders: Essam El-Erian, Mohamed El-Beltagy and Khairat El-Shater.
The panel also overturned a 7-year sentence for Morsi's Chief of Staff Mohamed Refae El-Tahtawy.
Last week, the same court overturned a death sentence against Morsi in a 2011 prison break case.
