Six people were killed and at least 25 wounded in a multi-vehicle road crash north of Cairo on Thursday, Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The accident took place on a freeway connecting the Nile Delta governorates of Al-Menoufiya and Qalyoubia.
Initial investigations showed the deadly incident was caused by "speeding," Qalyoubiya's security chief said.
Some of those critically injured were transported to hospitals in Cairo.
Deadly road crashes take place on a daily basis in Egypt, notorious for poor road safety rules, badly maintained infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
