Father Polous Halim, spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church, said that a statement was issued by the Holy Synod to assure that books issued by bishops and priests only express their own points of views, and special committees are held to discuss controversial matters before a final decision is made.
Abba Pfnotios, Bishop of Samalout, had issued a controversial book entitled “woman in Christianity” that permits women to take communion during their menstruation.
The ultra conservative current in the church attacked the bishop and strongly denounced his book and called to judge him for such book, but the secular current supported him.
