The heinous crime of slaughtering Youssef Lamie by a Salafi terrorist in Alexandria affected the Egyptian public opinion after millions of people have watched the movie of the crime while the criminal was shouting God is great. This comes with calls of the Egyptian president and many intellectuals to renew the religious discourse.
In fact, this is not the first crime in that account or that area. The courts take forever to condemn the aggressors and murderess which encourages other fanatics to commit similar crimes. Couple of years ago, another Coptic man was killed by a man who claimed to be mentally ill. The same area witnessed later a terrorist attack by a suicide bomber who attacked the Saints church in Alexandria. Another Christian Syrian family was also slaughtered in the area.
The law has to react to these crimes. People and places support the takfiri ideology in the area should be faced as well.
It’s strange that the state permits selling alcohol in these areas, and let the Salafis to kill the people who sell alcohol and attack places serving alcohol. The state has to react to those who support terrorism and rewrite a constitution that is not keen on pleasing those supporters of Wahhabi state in Egypt.
