A US diplomat was denied entry to Egypt at Cairo International Airport on Friday as he had not obtained an Egyptian entry visa in advance, the Middle East News Agency
(MENA) quoted security sources as saying.
In 2008, Egypt enforced the principle of reciprocity on US diplomats as well as some European nationals, requiring that they obtain an entry visa before arriving in the country.
A security source said that the US diplomat was returned to the same Etihad Airways plane that carried him from Abu Dhabi in the UAE to Cairo.
