HG Abba Yoanes, Bishop of Assiut, said during his sermon about the great lent that fasting and repentance are linked closely.
He added that repentance shouldn’t be postponed and fasting is a great occasion to repent.
He told a story about the late Monk Fanous of St. Paul Monastery who told him to read Isaiah 58 to be prepared well for fasting.
