Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met on Wednesday with Cypriot Minister of Defence Christoforos Fokaides in Cairo where they discussed military cooperation and the latest developments in the Middle East, the Egyptian presidency announced.
The meeting was attended by Egyptian Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhi, who held a separate meeting with his counterpart later.
Fokaides, who is visiting Egypt along with a Cypriot defence ministry delegation, expressed his condolences for the victims of the two deadly church bombings in Egypt earlier this week.
On Sunday, two suicide bombings hit St George's Cathedral in Tanta and St Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria, killing 46 and injuring dozens in the deadliest attack on Copts in the country's recent memory.
Last year, Sobhi and Fokaides signed a joint military cooperation agreement on fighting terrorism and combating the migrant crisis.
