CAIRO - A Cairo court on Saturday approvedthe establishment of an Egyptian political party that has beentrying to secure an official licence for 15 years, judicial sources said.
The Wasat Party (Centre Party) has applied four times for an official licence since the 1990s. Saturday's ruling made it the first party to gain official status since President Hosni
Mubarak was toppled on Feb. 11. The ruling will allow the Wasat Party, founded by a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, to take part in forthcoming elections.
