Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stressed on Sunday during a meeting in Cairo with a US congressional delegation the necessity of taking clear and decisive actions against countries that support terrorism logistically and financially.
The delegation was led by Republican senator and Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe Roger Wicker.
The meeting, which saw discussion of a number of regional issues, was attended by Egypt s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, according to presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
President El-Sisi expressed Cairo s vision on solving crises in the region, particularly in Libya and Syria, which primarily involves "preserving the national institutions of these countries and maintaining the sovereignty and unity of their peoples", the spokesman said.
"The president vowed to enhance cooperation between Egypt and the United States on issues of mutual interest," Youssef added.
"On the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, the president stressed the necessity of achieving a two-state solution, which would create a new atmosphere of stability and peace in the region."
