Heraldsun, the Australian newspaper, said that Pope Tawadros will be given the keys to the city when he visits Casey on September 8 to be the second Coptic Christian to be given the key after Bishop Anba Suriel in 2012.
He will be given the keys in honour of his (outstanding efforts in promoting love and peace between all people, and his wisdom in leading a persecuted church to spiritual revival and triumph) according to the newspaper.
Coptic Christians were described by the newspaper as one of the most persecuted groups in the middle east, with a number of bloody attacks against Coptic Churches in recent years.
