Coptic Orthodox Church starts the Fasting of Saint Mary on August 7 according to the Coptic rituals.
The fast lasts for 15 days during which Copts are allowed to eat vegetarian food as well as fish. Yet, many celebration and spiritual festivals are held in Coptic churches and monasteries on that occasion.
