Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shouky will fly to New York from London on Friday to take part in the UN General Assembly, the ministry said in a statement.
Shoukry will take part in the assembly s high-level debate, which will begin on Tuesday 19 September, with a focus on the theme, “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.”
The minister is also scheduled to attend a high-level meeting on combating online terrorism as well as a series of ministerial meetings on the Middle East, Syria, South Sudan and central Africa, as well as talks by the Group of 77 (G-77) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Shoukry is flying from London, where he took part in a six-party ministerial meeting on the Libyan crisis on Wednesday which was attended by foreign ministers of the US, the UK, France, Italy, the UAE and Egypt, alongside the UN s Libya envoy.
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi will also attend the 72nd session of the UNGA.
