US to grant $100 million military aids to Egypt

Egypt and the United States have signed new bilateral assistance agreements and amendments worth over US$100 million that support the government of Egypt’s economic reforms, Sustainable Development Plan 2030, private sector growth and job creation.

These agreements demonstrate ongoing support from the American people for joint US-Egypt priorities in water, health, education, agriculture, and trade, the US embassy’s statement read.

A spokeswoman from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Sherry F. Carlin, said that these agreements reflect our strong and enduring partnership and the impact that our joint efforts have on the people of Egypt.

She added, “Together with the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, we are strengthening the cornerstones of stability and prosperity in Egypt.”

USAID’s program in Egypt has provided the Egyptian government nearly $30 billion since 1978, to support a healthy, educated, and employed population.
