The road to a good future for our children in Egypt is a dangerous one. Our way is not furnished with flowers, and requires will, determination and awareness. We have to stop and evaluate the situation before we take the next step.
What is after restricting the freedom of opinion and expression, and silencing the opposition and media! More than six years have passed since the revolution of January 2011. Yet, the regime has learned nothing and has not changed. Had Egypt an appointment with hope, but has never produced something valuable!
Is not it time to realize that the concept of politics is much broader than the concept of security and that keeping mouths shut does not prevent minds from thinking and that the lesson is not the military or civilian background of the presidential candidate, but the traditions and political values adopted by the institutions in which the country is run. How is Egypt supposed to develop while and its laws and the Constitution are far from practice and as the political environment is that bad.
The authoritarian state is governed by the whims of a few people enjoying the benefits of a limited segment of its citizens and the rest remain victims of poverty and ignorance. And the modern civil state, whose citizens enjoy the same rights and duties and live with dignity and freedom.
There is a journey between those two states to move from one to another. The authoritarian state usually fails to meet the needs and aspirations of its citizens, and is besieged by internal conflicts between the ruling class and the citizens. Corruption is increasing until the state can not continue and collapse, and then a long journey begins to rebuild the state in a democratic manner based on principles and principles.
The second route requires a strong governor who is willing to build such democratic civil country and plans to protect its values supported by the independence of the judicial system under the rule of law and recognition of the partners of the country from different groups, especially civil society and appreciation of their role and organization of their work as well as fair distribution of wealth and the elimination of corruption and respect human rights.
Where are we going? we have to think and assess our experience to realize if we are moving in the right direction. When there will be a real will and desire of the governors to hear or even speak with their opposition to seek reform and change. It is an appeal before it is too late.
