Egypt has condemned a terrorist bomb attack on the New York metro on Monday that left three people injured.
The Egyptian foreign ministry issued a statement expressing Egypt s solidarity with the government and people of the United States in the wake of the attack, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The ministry said that “such terror attacks and what they reflect in terms of extremist ideas and the degradation of human dignity are a blatant violation of laws and human principles."
Egypt reiterated the need for the international community to develop a comprehensive strategy to eliminate terrorism and extremism in order to boost global stability and security.
In Monday s early-morning attack, a man detonated a pipe-bomb in a subway station near Times Square on the island of Manhattan. At least three people were injured the blast, as well as a suspect, who was now in police custody.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called the explosion “an attempted terrorist attack.”
