Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said, Oman s deputy prime minister, in Muscat on Monday, to discuss bilateral relations and enhancing economic ties.

"The Egyptian president highlighted the national projects currently implemented in Egypt that provide promising investment opportunities, expressing Cairo s keenness on bolstering economic, trade and investment relations with Oman," a statement by El-Sisi s spokesman Bassam Rady read.

The Omani deputy prime minister hailed the economic reforms adopted by Egypt, stressing his country s keenness to develop cooperation with Cairo at all levels.

"The two sides agreed to study the establishment of a joint investment fund," the statement added.

El-Sisi arrived on Sunday for the three-day official visit, and discussed enhancing bilateral relations, Arab Gulf security and cooperation over counter-terrorism efforts with Oman s Sultan Qaboos, according to a statement by Radi.

El-Sisi s visit to Muscat is the first by an Egyptian president since 2009.

Also on Monday, El-Sisi visited the Royal Opera House, the Sultan s Armed Forces Museum and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat.
