Recently, the Interior Ministry arrested Abdel Menaam Abou El-Fotuh, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, also the leader and President of the Masr Al-Qawyia Party.
Before that the army also arrested Samy Anan, the ex-chief of the military when the military council governing Egypt was forced to retire in 2013, when the Brotherhood was in power. Actually, most of what we call “Liberal Parties” announced its support for Sisi for a second term. They were adamant that this stage in the country requires a strong man like Sisi. It appears they forgot all the principles that the Constitution is built on, such as every party has the right to be in power.
Regardless of the circumstances of our current Political Parties, which are weak, we can see that Egypt is on the path towards a new Dictatorship as a result of fear and panic that the current
regime is trying spread among all Egyptians.
In fact, we see that the U.S. and most of the other Western Countries face a lot of threats. However, none of these powers use that as a reason to stay in power indefinitely.
In conclusion, I want to say that our Political Parties are responsible for what is happening in Egypt now, and, as a country, we will continue down this dangerous path if Sisi remains in power for
more than two terms.
