Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi honoured on Thursday the memory of a number of military and police martyrs and their families, saying he is ready to fight in person alongside heroes from the Egyptian Armed Forces and the police in battle.
The president s statements came during the Armed Forces 27th intellectual seminar.
"The price paid by every martyr is the pillar that keeps Egypt standing," El-Sisi said, stressing that the Army and police are battling for the sake of God against "the defamers of religion" with "righteousness on our side".
"We said six years ago that the Armed Forces, the police and the state promised the people of Egypt they were ready to die for their sake and so that our country will live," El-Sisi said.
The Armed Forces 27th Intellectual Seminar is attended by Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhi, Army Chief of Staff Farid Hegazi, as well as top army and state officials.
