Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan arrived in Cairo on Tuesday ahead of a scheduled meeting with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt s state TV said.
The state TV website quoted El-Sisi s office spokesman Bassam Rady as saying Al-Nahyan would meet El-Sisi at the start of a two-day visit to Egypt, but he gave no further details.
El-Sisi last met with Al-Nahyan in February in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi, with the pair discussing the bolstering of bilateral ties as well as combating terrorism and eliminating the financing of extremist groups.
The United Arab Emirates is an ally of El-Sisi, and the Abu Dhabi crown prince was among the first state leaders to congratulate El-Sisi after his re-election as president earlier this month.
Egypt and the UAE are part of a Saudi-led Arab alliance that severed diplomatic ties and transport links with Qatar in June 2017, claiming that Doha had been supporting terrorist groups and meddling in their internal affairs. Qatar has denied the accusations.
The dispute with Qatar launched the worst diplomatic rift between Arab states in decades.
