The love of our crucified God Jesus Christ makes him transcend our weaknesses like his disciples at the time of his crucifixion as well as those who crucified him.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, in his article The Hour of the Cross, the Hour of Love , explained to us many of the pictures of God s love for man at the time of his death on the cross.
Jesus gave us an image of forgiveness when He asked for forgiveness for those who tortured him and crucified him and said his words: Father, forgive them because they did not know what they were doing . He accepted the thief and told him he will enter the Paradise with Him on that very day.
He also showed His faithfulness when he looked at his mother, the weeping Virgin Mary, saying to her about John, This is your son and to John. This is your mother .
The Lord Jesus accepted the pain, mockery, whipping, spitting, vinegar, nails and thirst. He said, I am thirsty not only for water, but also for every soul away from him.
For his part, Abba Pachomius, Archbishop of Beheira and fromer acting Patirarch, explained that God s love for man appeared when He disregarded the mistakes of the disciples at the time of crucifixion, such as the fear that made the disciples splatter at the time of crucifixion, even Peter who said he will even die for Him.
The love of the Lord is beyond our imagination. It appeared at the hour of crucifixion, but we may learn from it and accept his peace.
