The Lord has bought us with His blood on the cross, so we have become His own people after he overcome the kingdom of Satan.
Pope Shenouda III, in his article Christ is King , explained to us that God owned us since the beginning of the creation, but in sin we have separated from his kingdom. Therefore, death reigned over us till Jesus saved us from death and the kingdom of Satan.
Through the cross, Chrsit overcame death and paid the price of our sins. Indeed, he overcame the Satan and destroyed his kingdom. Jesus said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Satan hates the Cross by which he lost his kingdom. Therefore, the Cross has power over Satan and thus he used many people by the cross calling on Jesus Christ to come down from the cross If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross
Our salvation and eternal life start at the cross with the thief who cried out: Remember me, Lord, when you come in your kingdom. And thus, he was granted eternal life. We praise the Lord on the cross and sing out to Him saying: The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty. His kingdom is not of this world.
