Dear Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, pardon me for disagreeing with you in what you said on June 3rd in a television interview. Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb said that Christians failed to apply the Christian teaching to love their enemies and bless them.
In December 2014, you said that generalization is a great mistake and now you do commit to this mistake since some Christians follow this teaching and others don t.
In fact, God gave this teaching knowing that it can be followed by humans. It can be difficult, but not impossible. Furthermore, the relationship between God and man is very special and no one should judge the intentions of the others.
In very hard situations, Christians proved their commitment to the teachings of their religion and those whose families were killed by terrorists declared their love and forgiveness and blessed the killers of their children.
However, such love doesn t mean we shouldn t claim our rights according to the constitution and law.
It should be mentioned that the president called several years ago to renew the religious discourse, but the state institutions ignored such call. Everybody should take his own responsibility to afford equal citizenship and to spread the culture of tolerance. Excuse me sheikh of Al-Azhar.
