The Holy Sacraments are Divine Grants

The Holy Sacraments of our beloved church are a gift from God to his children, through which he pours a flood of unseen blessings, which make them reach they destination without losing the way.

Abba Moussa, Bishop of Youth, in his article  The unity of the Holy Sacraments  assured us that the sacraments are divine grants by which we receive many unseen graces. They are seven Sacraments: namely: Baptism, Holy Chrism, Holy Eucharist, Confession, Sanction of the sick, Matrimony, and Priesthood.

All the sacraments have biblical old roots since they are not new. In the Holy Bible we find that such sacraments are one way to get many blessings. The Bible says, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of Water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God (John 3). Also, But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. (1John 2: 20). Concerning repentance and confession Jesus says:  Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth, will be loosed in heaven  (Matthew 18:18).

Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist when “He took bread, blessed it and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said,  Take, eat, this is My Body , then He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to His disciples saying,  Drink from it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins ” (Matthew 26:26-28). Concerning the Sanction of the sick the bible says: Is anyone among you sick ? Let him call for the elders of the church , and let them pray over him , anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord . (James 5:13) St. Paul expressed the sanctity of the Sacrament of Christian Matrimony, saying, “This is a great mystery” (Ephesians 5:32)

Concerning the mystery of Priesthood, the bible says:  Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

If we knew the value of the sacraments in our lives, we would avoid many obstacles that stand in our way to God.
