Egypts FM discusses boosting economic, tourism cooperation with Serbian President Vučić

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić discussed on Wednesday with Egypt s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry boosting cooperation between the two countries, a statement by Shoukry s spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said. 

Shoukry is on a three-day visit to Serbia to discuss bilateral cooperation with Serbian officials. 
 
During the meeting with Vučić, Shoukry expressed Egypt s appreciation for a decision adopted by the two sides to upgrade the level of representation of a higher joint committee between the two countries.
 
The decision reflects the keenness of the two countries to promote cooperation, the spokesman quoted Shoukry as saying.
 
The meeting also discussed means of fighting terrorism, along with the situation in the Middle East.
 
Shoukry also met on Wednesday with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.
 
Egypt s foreign minister and the Serbian prime minister discussed cooperation in the agriculture field and a broader framework for joint action.
 
Shoukry and Brnabić also discussed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as the possibility of operating directs flight between Cairo and Belgrade.

At a roundtable meeting held with a number of representatives of major Serbian companies and businessmen at the Serbian Business Club, Shoukry invited Serbian companies to invest more in Egypt in various sectors.
 
The spokesman said that Shoukry reviewed during the roundtable meeting tangible steps taken by the Egyptian government to develop the economic infrastructure, noting that the Egyptian market provides promising chances for foreign investors.
 
The minister also highlighted current promising fields for investment in Egypt, especially in energy, the agricultural sector, the development of road networks and the construction of new cities.

In a joint press release on Tuesday, Shoukry announced with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic that two memorandums of understanding have been signed.
 
The two MoUs focus on the field of youth and sports, as well as cooperation between the Egyptian Institute for Diplomatic Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Shoukry also announced that both countries have agreed to elevate the joint committee s level to a ministerial one, ushering in a new chapter in bilateral relations, a move which in turn could boost cooperation between Cairo and Belgrade in various fields and serve the two countries  interests, the spokesman said. 
 
The next session of the joint Egyptian-Serbian ministerial committee, expected to convene in Cairo soon, will see the inking of other agreements, the spokesman quoted Shoukry as saying. 
 
Shoukry s visit comes as the two countries mark the 110th anniversary of the establishment of ties between the two countries, said Hafez.
