He who has the keys to power can make peace Egypts defence minister tells EDEX 2018

Egypt s Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki told military officials at the opening ceremony of the country s EDEX 2018 military expo that "those who have the keys to power can make peace."

Zaki saluted and expressed his deep appreciation of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for sponsoring EDEX 2018, which he said was the first international defence and security industry exhibition in north and central Africa.

The defence minister said that President El-Sisi s sponsorship of the exhibition aims at delivering a message to the world that the defence and armament systems are the main pillars of peace and security and the fortress of stability for nations and peoples.

He explained that this international gathering will provide an opportunity for countries and companies producing armament systems and defense systems to present the latest developments in the field of production and military manufacturing of modern technologies.

"The current situation around the world necessitates a power which can protect and sustain peace," said Zaki in his speech at the opening, adding that Egypt s ability to organise such events affirms its capability to maintain security and stability.

"The Egyptian armed forces have been and still are the faithful bastions of this nation s capabilities, and we have sought to acquire the elements of power only in order to maintain its security and safety in a world beset by conflicts."

This international exhibition is a great opportunity for countries and companies manufacturing defence and armament systems to present the leading-edge military technology, exchange expertise and develop ties in the area of military production, the defence minister added.
