Egypt s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has hailed an initiative launched by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to improve the living conditions of the neediest in Egyptian society in 2019.
On Wednesday, President El-Sisi announced the launch of the Decent Life initiative in a small statement released on his social media accounts, where he praised "the Egyptian citizen" as the hero of 2018.
PM Madbouly has directed the government to take the necessary steps to implement the initiative to help improve services provided to those most in need, especially in Egypt s villages.
Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali said on Wednesday that the new initiative, which will launch on Thursday, aims to provide job opportunities and develop infrastructure.
Wali also said that a meeting will be held Thursday with the 10 biggest NGOs in Egypt to discuss the initiative, adding that the ministry has prepared a map outlining challenges and identifying target demographics.
"The programme is mainly aimed at the most underprivileged sectors and individuals in Egypt s impoverished and remote areas," Wali said during a phone call with DMC TV channel on Wednesday.
"Our plan is for the initiative to act as an umbrella for a number of already existing civil society initiatives on employment, healthcare, services and infrastructure," she said, adding that she encourages the media to shed light on all efforts to support national development.
