Egypt deports German over ISIS links

The Egyptian authorities deported the German citizen of Egyptian origin Issa Mohamed Abdelghani al-Sabbagh, who was arrested a few days ago when he arrived in the country from Germany via Luxor airport in possession of maps of

North Sinai and a compass.
According to the authorities, the investigation showed that Sabbagh adopted the terrorist ideology of ISIS, electronically connected to some of its elements, and came to Egypt to join the ranks of the terrorist organization in Sinai.

Sabbagh planned to use the maps and compass to reach terrorists in Sinai.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided on Sunday to deport him to Germany in coordination with the German embassy.

The young man was born in August 2000, and he and his father acquired German nationality after waiving their Egyptian nationality in 2007.

On January 11, Cairo Airport authorities deported another German man of Egyptian origin named Mahmoud Amr Mohamed Ezzat Abdel Aziz, 24, on arrival in Egypt from Saudi Arabia.

The security authorities said that Abdel Aziz, a student at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, had been arrested several days ago when he arrived in the country and that information was available that he arrived to join terrorist elements in Sinai.

The authorities added that since he did not commit any of the crimes stipulated by law and had waived the Egyptian nationality, the authorities decided to deport him to Germany in coordination with the German embassy.
