President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi spoke with his French counterpart President Emmanuel Macron by phone on Sunday, his spokesman Bassam Radi said.
According to the spokesman s statement, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in regional issues of mutual interest.
The French leader reiterated that his country is keen on enhancing cooperation with Egypt, whose role is important for security and stability in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, the statement said.
El-Sisi also highlighted the increasing growth of cooperation between the two countries in recent years.
Earlier on Sunday, the Egyptian president met in Cairo met with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, where they discussed economic ties and bilateral relations.
Macron will visit Cairo later this month, his first visit to Egypt since assuming office in 2017.
