The conspiracy theory is usually adopted by the Arab societies and especially by the weak people who cant afford to face their problems. For many people, such theory is an effective way to be famous.
Moreover, it gets those who believe in it to refuse all contradicting facts and think they know the absolute truth.
Today, many Coptic people think that the murder of Bishop Epiphanius, head of St. Makar monastery, by two monks was based on a conspiracy theory. This reminded me of the most famous conspiracy theory spread in the Arab region for the last two decades, which is the attacks of September 9, 2001. Many people decided to take away the accusations of the leader of al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, and to accuse the Zionist movements and the CIA of planning for the attack. Those people ignored the confessions of bin Laden in which he declared that he planned for the attacks. They refused all clear facts and solely accepted their illusions.
Many Coptic people did the same concerning the murder of Bishop Epiphanius refusing to accept the confessions of the monks since they refuse to accept that some monks may commit such crimes.
