Sisi affirmed Egypt s position on the unity, stability and security of Libya. He also stressed support for counter-terrorism efforts against extremist groups and militias, which pose a threat not only to Libya, but also to the security and stability of the Middle East and the Mediterranean region.
He further expressed support for a comprehensive development process throughout the Libyan territory, according to Rady.
According to Rady, Merkel stated her country s adherence to the political solution in Libya through dialogue, and expressed a desire to listen to Sisi s vision regarding the latest developments in Libya in light of Egypt s active role in the region and its current chairmanship of the African Union.
Egypt is also closely following up the developments of the situation in Khartoum due to the historical relations between the two countries and the importance of Sudan within the regional and international scope, Sisi was quoted as saying.
He stated Egypt s support for the Sudanese people s choices based on Egypt s steadfast stance on respect to people s sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
He stressed the importance of concerted international efforts to help Sudan to overcome the crisis and maintain its stability for the benefit of the Sudanese people, Rady added.
