The Muslim Eid Al-Fitr holiday will begin in Egypt on Wednesday 5 June, the Egyptian Dar El-Iftaa announced on Monday after sunset.
"The Shawwal crescent moon was not visible across the country. Tuesday will be the last day of Ramadan," said Egypt s Grand Mufti Shawki Allam to the nation on Monday after the sunset.
Last week, Egypt s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced a decision granting three days off work for all civil servants on Eid Al-Fitr, which starts following the last day of the holy month of Ramadan, which has been announced as Wednesday.
Eid will run from 5 till 7 June.
Meanwhile, Egypt s Ministry of Manpower has granted workers in the private sector the first two days of Eid off.
Most Muslim countries performed the Shawwal month crescent moon sighting on Monday, which determines on which day Ramadan will end.
Saudi Arabia , Kuwait , Qatar and the UAE have announced that Tuesday will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
Egypt, Palestine, Syria. Jordan, Malaysia and Indonesia have announced that Tuesday will be the last day of Ramadan.
