Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi held talks on Thursday in Osaka with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, ahead of attending the G20 Summit, which starts in the Japanese city on Friday.
President El-Sisi is attending the G20 summit upon the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, whose country holds the current G20 presidency, according to a statement by the presidential spokesperson on Wednesday.
The G20 summit in Osaka, which takes place from 28-29 June, is the 14th meeting for the group.
Rady explained that the Japanese prime minister welcomed President El-Sisi on his visit to Japan, affirming that “this visit will contribute to the enhancement of the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, especially within joint developmental cooperation between both countries.”
"Japan gives special attention to bilateral relations and political consultation with Cairo, especially within Egypt s role in its regional width and access to the Middle East region,” said Rady in his statement.
The Japanese prime minister also stressed his country s keeness to cooperate with Egypt in advancing its comprehensive development process within the framework of Egypt s sustainable development strategy 2030., according to Rady.
This points to Japan s intention in intensifying its efforts to carry out bilateral projects in various fields, specifically in education, culture, technology, transportation, and the Egyptian Grand Museum- an icon of cultural and civil cooperation between the two countries in support of the tourism sector in Egypt, the presidential spokesperson added.
Rady also explained the Egyptian president expressed appreciation to the close and fruitful relations that bind Egypt and the friendly state of Japan. El-Sisi extended his congratulations to the Japanese government and people on the recent inauguration of Emperor Naruhito, who succeeded his father, Emperor Akihito, on 30 April.
According to Rady, the Egyptian president stressed Egypt s interest in maintaining the momentum generated by regular meetings between senior officials of both countries in order to achieve bilateral cooperation in many fields, especially in development, economy and investment.
There are promising investment opportunities available in Egypt spanning various sectors that furthers the good reputation Japanese companies have in Egypt as one of the most important sources of foreign direct investment and technological advancements.
The Japanese Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts exuded by the Egyptian government in supporting the work of Japanese companies operating in Egypt.
The Egyptian presidential spokesperson added that the talks covered preparations for the seventh summit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) which will be hosted in Yokohama, Japan next August.
The conference will be held under a joint Japanese-Egyptian presidency during Egypt s current chairmanship over the African Union.
El-Sisi invited Japan s Prime Minister to visit Egypt at its earliest opportunity, wishing the Prime Minister take part in the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for next year.
According to Rady, El-Sisi is scheduled to hold meetings on the sidelines of the G20 with a number of Japanese businessmen and chairmen of the largest Japanese companies operating in Egypt to discuss means of boosting cooperation in the fields of economic, trade and investments.
