On this occasion I tell you about the bribery offered to President Nasser: In 1955, the revolutionary approach taken by Gamal Abdel Nasser threatened the interests of America and Israel in the region. America has tried to break through the financial discharge of Gamal Abdel Nasser by sending him a bribe.
Hassan al-Tuhamy, Presidential Advisor, met with Miles Coblin, the top American intelligence officer in the Middle East after he was invited to meet him at the Semiramis Hotel. Coblin promised to help Egypt and gave al-Tuhamy a bag full of cash to be presented to Nasser.
On his way back to Nasser, al-Tuhamy wondered if did the right thing by accepting the money. For his part, Nasser took the money and handed it over to the Egyptian General Intelligence and instructing them to build the Cairo Tower using this money. The tower today is one of the most prominent landmarks of Cairo s history and civilization. It is also became a symbol of pride and dignity of Egypt.
