Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appointed on Thursday chancellor Hamada El-Sawy as the new prosecutor-general.
El-Sawi, who was president of the Cairo Court of Appeals, succeeds Nabil Sadek, in office since September 2015.
Sadek became prosecutor-general after his predecessor Hisham Barakat had been killed in a car bombing in June 2015.
