Forgive us of our sins

As sinners, we always ask God for forgiveness. Nobody is void from sin if his life doesn t exceed one day on earth.

Pope Shenouda III in his article  Forgiveness  assured us that God is merciful and forgiving by nature because he knows our human weakness.

The prophet David says,   for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust  (Psalm 103:14).

The Lord Jesus said:    I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. (Luke 13:5) Thus, prophet David says  All night long I flood my bed with weeping, and drench my couch with tears.  This means that the first condition for forgiveness is repentance. However, true repentance means abandoning sin and never to return to it.

The second condition for forgiveness is to try to address the consequences of sin. For example, if someone is wronged, it is not enough just to repent, but he must save the oppressed from such injustice.

The third condition for forgiveness is that you forgive those who have sinned against you. Thus, the Lord Jesus said,  if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins    And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.

Now, if these conditions apply, one can enjoy forgiveness like the prophet David said: Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.

May God grants us the forgiveness of our sins and absolve, and remit our transgressions; those, which we have committed willingly, and those we have committed unwillingly.
