Holy Synod has declared the preliminary list of candidates for the papacy, which didn't include Abba Moussa, bishop of Youth.
Abba Thomas, bishop of Qusiya, said that the list includes 17 candidates: Abba Ioannis, General Bishop and secretary of the late Pope Shenouda III, Abba Bishoy, Bishop of Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta and secretary of the Holy Synod, Abba Pfnotios, bishop of Samalut, Abba Taodharos, bishop of al-Behira, Abba Raphael, general bishop for churches of central cairo, Abba Kyrillous, bishop of Milan, Abba Potros, general bishop and secretary of the late Pope. In addition to 10 monks from the monasteries and they are monk Anastasy of St. Samuel monastery in Minya, and the monk Maximus from St. Anthony monastery in the Red Sea, father Bishoy and father Sawirus from St. Paula monastery in the Red Sea, father Shenouda and father Bigol from Saint Bishoy monastery in Wadi Natrun, the monks Pachomius, Daniel and Sarofim from St. Mary monastry in Wadi Natrun, father Raphael from St. Mina monastery in Alexandria.
Abba Thomas added that the Holy Synod has decided that the papal elections will be held next September and October with the participation of 10 members of the Holy Synod of the Eritrean church.
