Independent MP Mostafa Bakry has submitted a report to the public prosecutor against Freedom and Justice Party MP Mohamed al-Beltagy. Bakry accused Beltagy of inciting people to kill him.
Bakry said in his report that Beltagy posted false claims on his Facebook account that Bakry had accused the Muslim Brotherhood of being the unknown group that let prisoners out of jails and burned police stations during the uprising last year, and killed protesters during the so-called “Battle of the Camel” last February.
Bakry said Beltagy incited against him and threatened to face him in Parliament. He called on the prosecution to investigate Beltagy, saying there is no evidence for Beltagy’s claims.
Bakry said he hadn’t accused the Brotherhood or anyone else inside or outside Parliament, adding that he called for investigations to clarify truth about the incidents that happened during the revolution.
Beltagy on Saturday criticized statements made by presidential candidate and former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq, talk show host Tawfiq Okasha, former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman, Judges Club head Ahmed al-Zend and Bakry accusing the Brotherhood of being the “hidden hands” behind the three events.
They depend on the misleading power of the media and its ability to reverse truth and deceive simple-minded people, Beltagy said, adding that they depend on division and disputes among revolutionaries.
