Presidential Spokesperson Yasser Ali said the security situation in Sinai is improving due to the security forces' continued crackdown on militants in a press statement Saturday.
Ali said a detailed report is to be issued soon on the identity of the attackers who killed 16 soldiers at the Rafah checkpoint on 5 August.
The government launched "Operation Eagle," a vast military operation whose goal is to regain control of the Sinai, following the deadly border attack earlier this month.
Ali stressed that development is the best way to achieve true security in the peninsula. He added the state will allocate LE1 billion in the coming year, as an initial investment for a comprehensive development project.
President Mohamed Morsy has plans for several development projects in Sinai involving both public and private sectors.
