Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi held talks with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in Cairo on Tuesday.
Salehi traveled to Cairo on Monday to participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Egypt, and Turkey on the crisis in Syria, which was held on Monday.
During his meeting with Salehi, Morsi said, “There exists no problem between Iran and Egypt,” the Persian service of IRNA reported.
According to the report, he described Iran and Egypt as two great nations which wish well for each other.
The Egyptian president also asked Salehi to convey his warm greetings to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
In addition, Salehi and Morsi discussed regional issues, including the Syrian crisis, and the Egyptian president said that his country is ready for any kind of regional cooperation.
Morsi also thanked Iran for its successful holding of the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was held in Tehran from August 26 to 31.
Salehi stated that Iran respects the Egyptians people’s decision to determine their own destiny.
He added that Iran is ready to cooperate with Egypt in various spheres, noting that the two countries can play complementary roles.
