Khaled Saeed's sister: Morsy yet to issue death certificate for Khaled

Khaled Saeed’s sister, Zahra Saeed, has said that President Mohamed Morsy has not yet kept his promise to her mother to issue a death certificate for her brother.

Khaled Saeed was beaten to death in June 2010 by police who were trying to arrest him for uploading videos against the regime. His death sparked protests around the country and is considered by many to be one of the main factors that led to the 25 January revolution.

Saeed told Al-Masry Al-Youm, “My mother asked the president during his meeting with the families of the martyrs at the beginning of his reign for three requests. The first is to issue a death certificate to Khaled, because the family has not had it to this day, and the burial permit says that the cause of death is ‘under investigation.’ The second is to release all detainees, and the third is to take care of the injured of the 25 January revolution.”

“Morsy promised to issue the death certificate, and meet the demands of the revolution, but to this day he has not met any promise, except for the release of some detainees, mostly from Islamic groups,” she added.

Saeed said that the president appointed a secretary to communicate with them, and told her that “the door of the [presidential] palace is open to all families of the martyrs.” However, Saeed claimed that the secretary never answers the phone and once hung up on her mother.
