Abba Paula, bishop of Tanta and media spokesman for the Nominations Committee of the papal elections, said yesterday there was no decision made by Abba Pachomius to prevent members of the committee to talk to media or to excommunicate them.
He added in a press conference yesterday in the papal residence in Abbassya that candidates are excluded for many reasons, and not only for the appeals.
Paula said that personal meetings with the candidates came to recognize their experiences, talents and communications, stressing that they have not made a single decision to exclud any of the candidates yet.
Concerning the appeals, he said that Abba pachomious, the acting patriarch, will take them into consideration.
He added that only Abba Kyrolous, bishop of milan, has withdrawn officially from running for the papacy.
