A Salafi preacher and politician has declared that Egyptians who vote for a constitution that does not impose Sharia (Islamic law) on the country will “go to hell,” Al-Arabiya reports. Preacher Adel Afifi is the founder and president of the Al-Asala political party.
Those who vote for the draft constitution are “apostates” and are “committing a sin,” Afifi wrote on his Facebook page.
The draft constitution keeps a previous description of Islam as Egypt’s state religion and the main source for Egyptian law.
