The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party has launched an anti-rodent campaign in Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city, within the context of ongoing preparations for upcoming parliamentary elections.
FJP members, led by the party's secretary for Alexandria Saber El-Merey, have begun sprinkling rat poison in areas throughout the coastal city, especially the working-class districts of Ameriya and Agami.
The move follows a spate of complaints by local residents of marked increases in the number of rodents and vermin in the area.
